Good Mornings for a Wednesday (January 30)

*Just a few things from last week/this past weekend that I haven’t had a chance to share.

Some smiles and chuckles for the middle of the week…

Smeared entry stamp

My science centre entry stamp after a hand-washing…

Houston, I think we have a (solubility) problem...

Rice & Milk Breakfast

Leftover Rice + Milk or Plain Yogurt + Dried Fruit, Honey, & Nuts = Delicious

My husband can hardly watch me consume this combination.
He thinks it is an insult to rice.
I think it is scrumptious.

Holly & Stonehenge

On Friday morning, Stonehenge and I went for a run.

Actually, KMN and I went for a run.
But he disappeared before the photo shoot.
I wonder if he doesn’t like sweaty pictures of himself all over the interwebs…
[Actually, he’s quite OK with it.  I asked.]

PomegranateBowl of antioxidants, anyone?

I love pomegranates, and a friend recently shared this video with me.
Using this technique, I can get a bowl of seeds in about 90 seconds.
My form needs some work, but I’m improving…

Novara topThis Novara cycling jersey is basically the softest thing ever.

Cycling jerseys are a little longer in the back.
Wearing one to yoga gives me extra back coverage during forward bending.
Plus, I get some extra use out of the jerseys.
Since I haven’t yet busted out my bike in Singapore….
[Note to self: Get on that!]

Raindrops

Raindrops out our kitchen window.

The official “rainy season” is drawing to a close.
So I’m thankful for every afternoon storm that we get!

Tokusen Toroniku Ramen at Santouka.

Friday Date Night was going to be Italian.
But when we got to the restaurant, we learned they were hosting a private party.
Good thing I like ramen ANY time!

After ramen, we came home and watched “Up”.
And cried. And cried. And cried.
That’s a kid’s movie?!?!

What are your thoughts on rice + milk???

Any suggestions for cute animated movies that won’t turn me into a sniveling mess??

*Also, for anyone who might be interested – I recently shared a little bit about my personal evolution as a runner with Tyler over at The Running Ginger.  See his post on fitness journeys here.  He’s on one of his own – so go ahead over and give him a cheer or two.  After all, we’re all in this together!!

You just brought back a fantastic memory of childhood. I used to eat leftover rice and milk (with a touch of sugar) all the time!

Hi Heather!!! Thanks for piping up. One more for team Rice + Dairy!!!

Although I have no memory from the time, my Mom used to mix yogurt + rice for toddler Holly, because it made both of items easier for a toddler to feed herself. [Very timely, for the ‘working moms’ article – it was easier for me to feed myself, thus freeing her to get ready for work!]

    Hahaha Love this 🙂

Was it your first time watching UP? I looooove that movie. So sweet and cute.

And also? Thanks for sharing that genius video. I’m not sure what was more entertaining – the awesome new technique, or how EXCITED!!! that dude on the video got about pomegranate. Hahaha!!!

Have a great day! (night?) <3

Yes. First time. Probably the last. Sweet and cute? Sure. Sad? YES. *sniffle*

A few pomegranate pointers: Remember to SCORE the outside, not cut it. I cut the whole fruit through the first time, and the result was a big juicy mess. Also, pound in the direction of an empty counter, not freshly washed whites. Things still get a bit…juice-flecked. 🙂

The first time we saw Up, I bawled through the opening sequence. I still haven’t shown the girls because I feel like it’s too upsetting. Don’t know if you’ve seen Tangled, but that’s pretty big at my house right now. The last 10 minutes of Toy Story 3 made me cry, too, so maybe avoid that one!
My mind is officially blown after watching that video. Liesl will be so excited to help to do that, too!

It IS pretty fun, actually. Just be aware that a *little* bit of juice still gets thrown about, so don’t whack too hard in the direction of any freshly bleached linens or anything. 😉

Hm. Tangled. Wonder if I can sell KMN on that one… 🙂

Thanks for stopping by, and commenting today. =)

Rice and milk remind me of childhood–my mom would sometimes make that for me for breakfast.

Love that cycling jersey–I wish they’d make running shirts w/ pockets like that more often. We need them!

    Yes, Up was a tearjerker!

It’s just like rice pudding! I don’t see anything wrong with that.

Is rainy season good? If the other season is “really, really hot,” I’m guessing that’s a yes.

That last picture looks too delicious for words.

I do believe that we’ve bonded over this fact before. 🙂

<3 rice pudding, too. Do you make it yourself? It's *definitely* not something easily found on offer here; would finally consider making my own. So many recipoe choices, though. Anything you recommend?
